the weakerthans, review of
i love geoff and jonnie. i really have to give them props, as they get me into the shows for free. i feel so vip.
anyways. last night colleen, jonnie and myself went up to the marquis in denver to see them. well. actually. it was me, colleen, jonnie and lydia driving up to denver, but lydia went to a stand up night.
so.
we get to the marquis, and jonnie wants a drink. and if there is one thing you could say about the marquis. its that the drinks are weak. like. weak weak weak. cheap. but weak.
so we get our wrist bands so we can get back inside, and start walking to jonnies favorite bar in the area, which happens to serve cheap pints of strongbow cider. which also happens to be the first drink i ever had, in faversham. thats a different story though similar.
so were walking, when we see a sign up in front of a bar that says ‘free drinks and food’
no joke. free drinks.
so we walk inside, get accosted by a drunk door man, show him our id’s, and a few minutes later we have three strong drinks, two absolut vodka sodas and a gin and coke. (actually, we paid three dollars, cause we tipped the lady)
now this place is crowded.
like. cant walk anywhere crowded. we decided maybe the patio out back might be a good less crowded place to drink. turns out it wasnt. at all. but we got to smoke.
anyways. half an hour later were back in the marquis, right in time, as the weakerthans were just setting up. it turned out pretty awesome too, cause our friend tyler showed up. so we sat with him on the riot barricade things.
ack. my mind is gone.
anyways.
the weakerthans were amazing. played mostly old stuff, and the new stuff they played was really good. they even played the cat song. i love that song. the only problem was the marquis in denver gets so crowded, hot, and uncomfortable. kinda sucks. well. not really sucks. just. you know. is uncomfortable.
